The Initial Teaching Alphabet Foundation
is a corporation
organized under the Membership Corporation Law of the State of New
York. The Foundation was formed exclusively for educational and
charitable purposes, to promote, maintain and advance education in
all its fields, and in particular (but without limiting the
generality of the foregoing) by the development, standardization,
propagation, dissemination, teaching and use of the Initial Teaching
Alphabet (i.t.a.).
Activities:
As a not-for-profit operating foundation, the foundation is
committed to grant making, developing programs, providing
informational services, and in-service training to not-for-profit
organizations that meet the requirements as stated in our purpose.
Fields of Interest:
Grants awarded reflect a variety of approaches for promoting and
supporting the use of the Initial Teaching Alphabet for early
childhood literacy: elementary and secondary school education, and
adult continuing education.
Types of Support:
Program development; conferences/seminars; publications;
research, technical assistance; and consulting services.
Limitations:
No grants to individuals, or for building or endowment funds, and
general support, scholarships, fellowships or matching gifts; no
loans.
Publications:
Informational brochure, program policy, occasional reports,
application guidelines.
